What’s the difference between a solar thermal system and a photovoltaic system?

Both systems – the first made with solar thermal panels and the latter with solar photovoltaic ones – use solar radiations to produce energy, but in different ways. Solar thermal panels use the heat of solar radiations, in other words infrared rays, to warm the water of your water system and to heat your house; whereas photovoltaic panels use solar radiations to produce electric energy to supply power to your house’s devices.
